Location:  Laurel, Maryland

Availability: 4 - 8 hours weekly

Education:  High School Education and above


Description: 

EduSerc is looking for a volunteer to serve within the Media / Public Relations Sector of our organization.  Volunteers for this position must possess excellent writing, communication and speaking skills and be enthusiastic to learn new things.

The volunteer selected for this position will be responsible for assisting the development of the organization’s corporate image to the external community and internal members.  The candidate will be required to the following (but not limited to):

  • developing & emailing press releases on news stories about the organization on a weekly basis
  • developing a contact database of media contacts and other types of contacts for future press and news releases
  • identifying key opportunities for EduSerc to gain exposure to corporate, government and community partners

Volunteer Requirements
As a volunteer, you will be working on a team of other professionals on a committee to help further the objectives of the organization.  All volunteers when representing the organization in person must dress casual or business casual (no jeans) and must reflect the values associated with the organization being quality, professionalism and integrity.

All volunteers must review EduSerc's volunteer policies and procedures training video before serving as an official volunteer with EduSerc.

Background Check
Depending upon requirements (or the assignment), volunteers may be subject to a standard criminal background check due to requirements of local school systems or other entities for liability purposes.

Location
This position can be performed on-site at EduSerc offices in Laurel, MD or remotely.


 

Professional Skills: 

  • Great communication skills
  • Writing skills (ie. press releases, letters)

Technical Skills: 

  • General computer knowledge (ie. Microsoft office suite and internet)
